Touring Iceland II

North coast: from Reykjavik to Seydisfjordur

Travelogue Touring Iceland II with 52 photos
Iceland is sparsely populated and its north coast even less. There are no real trees, only grass, moss and some shrubs. And sheep, birds and seals sum up the animal world. But the deserted north of Iceland does have spectacular landscapes, with fjords, lakes, rivers and waterfalls, snow-covered mountain peaks, and bizarre rock formations. Steam and the smell of sulphur direct you to lava fields with mud pots and fumerols. 52 photos.

Touring Iceland I

South coast: from Seydisfjordur to Reykjavik

Travelogue Touring Iceland I with 52 photos
Driving along the south coast of Iceland you are treated to all kinds of wild landscapes: bizarrely shaped fjords, snow-covered mountain peaks, glaciers, lakes with lumps of ice in them, canyons with fast flowing rivers, steep cliffs and rocks with nesting sea birds, pseudo-craters, moss-green lava fields, basalt rocks enveloped in ancient legends, geysers, bubbling mud pots and steam holes. And waterfalls, many, many splashing waterfalls. 52 photos.
