The big hotels take American dollars. Outside tourist areas it's smart to bring local currency.

If you know in advance which places you're going to visit, you can find out online if and where there are ATM's where you can use your MasterCard and Cirrus or Visa to withdraw money.

Climate

On the coast the temperature often reaches 30 degrees Centigrade and the west coast has a lot of sun. This is the same year round.
