Money

The currency is the Cypriotic Pound. Don't mistake the Cypriotic price level for that of Greece. Both accomodation and food and drinks are twice as expensive.

If you know in advance which places you're going to visit, you can find out online if and where there are ATM's where you can use your MasterCard and Cirrus or Visa to withdraw money.

Accomodation

For rooms for the two of us we paid about 50 Euro on average. The most atmospheric ones were agrotourism accomodations.

Best time to visit

Thanks to its mild climate Cyprus can be visited all year round. Spring already starts by the end of February. By May most flowers has left off. Avoid summers on Cyprus: it's too hot (up to 40 degrees Centigrade) to do anything, the prices are at their highest and the resorts are filled to the seams.

Bicycling on Cyprus

Cyprus is mountainous: mountain gears (42x28) and a good physical condition are very helpful; good brakes are essential, they can save your life. A triple front blade will make your trip even better.

You'll find an increasing number of asphalted roads on Cyprus, but in the mountains are several unpaved trails for mountain biking.
