Transportation

The easiest way to get around is by car, a jeep or four-wheel drive; it allows you to go wherever you want. Gas is really cheap, but there aren't too many gas stations, so make sure you fill up in time. Traffic keeps to the left. According to others, traveling by public transportation and taxis is also doable.

Money

Compare car rent

Only the big cities in the western part of the country (Delhi, Agra, Jaipur) have ATMs. It's best to bring travelers checks or American dollars; credit cards come in handy, too. Keep small change in your pocket for tips and to pay rickshaw riders.

If you know in advance which places you're going to visit, you can find out online if and where there are ATM's where you can use your MasterCard and Cirrus or Visa to withdraw money.

Climate and best time to travel

Trinidad and Tobago are generally sunny and warm with a nice trade wind. The average temperature is around 30 degrees centigrade. Tobago lies south of the hurricane route, so those are rare. The last hurricane happened in 1963.

The tourist season is from January through May, which is the dry season. But even in the rainy season (June through December) there are usually only short, heavy showers toward the end of the afternoon.

Plan your trip to Trinidad and Tobago online

Through online reservation systems like À la Carte Vacations you can book airline tickets, hotels, rental cars and holiday houses.
