One does not need a visa to visit South Africa. But your passport should be valid until 6 months after leaving South Africa.

South Africa is famous for its national parks and game reserves. There are over 500 of them. South Africa has many different landscapes. Savannahs with shrubs, desert, grasslands, highlands, forests, beaches, sand dunes and mountains. Almost all kinds of African game can be found in the parks and reserves. The Kruger National Park is the most famous one. In the parks, the speed limit is 40 k/p/h. Even though the roads are in reasonably good condition, it's best to rent a 4x4, especially in the rainy season.

Climate and best time to travel

Best times to travel are either from March to April or September-October. But because of the sunshine, every time of the year is possible. During the summer it can be extremely hot, though. When it rains, the showers are short but heavy. In the summer the overgrowth is denser, which can limit the view of animals. On the other hand, during the summer there are many young animals, which were born in the spring.
