General information

Bottled water is available everywhere.

Supermarkets sell adaptor plugs for only a few euros.

We didn't feel unsafe anywhere at any time, people were incredibly friendly and helpful. Only on Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg we had to pay a few times for "spontaneous" help: a man who directed us to the elevator and even an employee of the car rental who accompanied us to the gas station.

Safety and Security

Traveling in some countries brings risks with it. That shouldn't always be a reason not to travel there, but part of a good preparation is finding out about those risks.

A good source of information is the site of CIA World FactBook: South Africa. But always get advice from your own country's Foreign Department as well.
